The human experience is a mix of joy and struggle as we search for connection to others and to the world around us. As a parent, my life has been equally sustained and consumed in the role of nurturer. In my work, anthropomorphic figures interact in narratives to depict this duality. My work merges sacred, cathedral-inspired architectural elements and fairy tale-like wistfulness with biting complexities such as women’s/abortion rights, gender/sexuality, and non-traditional family relationships. The physical, emotional, and spiritual connections we create in our human experience contribute to a universal conversation that transcends culture, time, place, and race to reveal the essence of humanity.
